A Connecticut-based bridal shop is hoping to make wedding days even more special for brides too poor to dress the part.
The Wedding Dress in Portland is having a big sale, and several of those gowns which still aren’t sold, will be shipped to Haiti.
The store has been fitting Haitian brides with a donated dress for about ten years, and over the years, the store has provided about a hundred gowns.
“As far as I know they loan them out to the girls, and then the girls return them so that they’re available for another bride,” Shelley Bailey, store owner, said.
Bailey said she usually sends down eight to ten gowns each year to Haiti.
