A Hamden firefighter will spend his days on duty inside the Miller Memorial Library.

The town recently discovered vital parts of the library’s fire alarm system do not work. To ensure the safety of library patrons, the library is on a fire watch. The firefighter will be stationed inside the library during the hours the building is open.

“Having a firefighter on site, I don’t think that’s the best use of my taxpayer money,” said Hamden resident Yvonne Jones.

The fire department is working to fully restore the library’s alarm system. They do not yet know when repairs will be complete.
