His attorney said his clients first words after the judge granted bail were, “Thank God.”Michael Skakel, who last month had his murder conviction, in the 1975 death of Martha Moxley, overturned is a free man, for now.A Stamford Superior Court judge today allowed Skakel to walk after posting a $1.2 million bond. But, there are conditions to his freedom.

Judge Gary White said Skakel cannot leave the state of Connecticut. He may not contact the victims family. He must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet. And, he has to report to the bail commissioner upon request.

Martha Moxley’s brother, John, and her mother, Dorthy, were on hand for today’s proceedings and said they were not surprised by the judges decision, but they were confident judge Thomas Bishop’s rolling would be overturned. If that was the case, Skakel would be forced to return to prison.

The state has filed paperwork, but not yet briefs, for an appeal of Judge Bishop’s ruling.
