Jim Balcome, director of the Manchester Road Race, and Marc Montiminy, Manchester’s police chief, talk about the security in place this year for the race in light of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Without going into specifics, the organizing committee for the race said runners and spectators will see a large police presence, but there will be a lot of things people won’t see behind the scenes.

A total of 15,000 registered runners will run the 4.7 mile course and an estimated 40,000 will watch.

Organizers are asking everyone who will be there to keep their possessions close.
