Patriotism is on a roll in Milford. The national group “Wreaths Across America” is using big rigs to deliver their holiday message.

It could be  called it a “truckload of respect” for servicemen and women courtesy of Karen and Morrill Worcester. The Worcesters, owners of the Maine based Worcester Wreaths, began “Wreaths Across America” 22 years ago with the goal of honoring military veterans by placing wreaths at the grave sites of fallen soldiers.

The Worcesters came to the Pilot Travel Center in Milford and held the first ever “rolling tribute,” dispensing free wreaths to any trucker who wanted one.

“We give the wreaths away with one stipulation, that on National Wreaths Across America Day they take that wreath off their truck and find a veteran’s grave and place the wreath on that grave,” Morrill Worcester said.

The husband and wife team try to get as many wreaths as possible to veterans graves, with a special focus on Arlington National Cemetery, where they will travel for Wreaths Across America Day on December 14.

Karen Worcester said, “We just want to bring people together to remember, honor, and teach.”
