Roads are very slick in central and northern Connecticut this morning. Drizzle and light rain is freezing on contact with the surface. There have been many accidents already, so if you’re headed out this morning, assume it’ll be icy.

Other than that, we’ll be mostly cloudy today with highs around 40 degrees.

High pressure noses down out of eastern Canada for Monday with a mix of sun and clouds. Meanwhile, a storm will be developing off the North Carolina coast Monday and begin to track northeast and intensify. Current guidance suggests that the storm will move north-northeast and brush Connecticut with some light to moderate precipitation. Since the cold air source needed for a snowstorm will not be there, the precipitation type will be mostly in the form of rain with a little snow to start. But since the storm is still a few days away, it bears watching and a lot could change during the next several days.

Extended Forecast:

Sunday: Chance for spotty light flurries and freezing drizzle in the morning, otherwise cloudy during the afternoon.  High: 35-42.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy with the chance for a few sprinkles.  Low: 30.

Monday: Partly sunny. High: 40 to 45.

Tuesday: Chance of rain with some light snow to start early.  High: low 40s.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, high in the mid 40s.
