EAST HARTFORD – UConn unleashed an offensive explosion on the Memphis Tigers in the American Conference season finale for both schools Saturday Rentschler Field.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Casey Cochran, who became the third Huskies starter at the position this season, threw for a school-record 461 yards and completed 36 of 54 passes, including a career-high four touchdowns, in leading the Huskies to a 45-10 pasting of the Tigers before 17,086, the smallest crowd to see a game at the stadium since it opened in 2003.

In the final home game for 14 seniors, Cochran gave them and all those in attendance something to remember and his favorite target junior Geremy Davis had a lot to do with his school-record 15 receptions for 207 yards and a touchdown. Davis also became the first 1,000-yard receiver at UConn since Carl Bond (1004) in 1998, so he is the first in the Division I-A era and ends the season with 1,085.

With Deshon Foxx catching another 11 for 137, it gave the Huskies their first pair of 100-yard receiving performances since ‘98 and the first time two players caught 10 or passes in a game since 1991.

The margin of victory is the largest for UConn since defeating UMass 37-0 in last August.

The Huskies built a 21-3 lead at halftime and never looked back.

After starting out 0-9, the Huskies went on a three-game winning streak to finish 3-9, 3-5 in the league. It’s the first time UConn has won two or more games since 2010. Memphis’ season ends at 3-9, 1-7).
