NEW HAVEN — An 18-year-old man is facing manslaughter charges in connection with a Saturday afternoon fatal shooting.
Officers responded to the second floor of 35 Harding Place around 1:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Shamar Willet, 23, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
Willet was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
Police said Sunday they had arrested an 18-year-old man and charged him with second-degree manslaughter in connection with the shooting. The man’s name has not been released but police are planning a press conference Monday to discuss the arrest.
