BROOKFIELD — A 31-year-old woman was killed Monday morning after a series of car crashes on Route 25, police said.
The victim was identified as Erin Morrarty of New Milford.
Police said the first accident occurred just after 8 a.m. north of Fairview Road when a Toyota Corolla rear-ended a van that had stopped for a school bus. Both vehicles moved to the side of the road where Morrarty, driving a Honda Fit, sideswiped the Corolla.
She parked in front of the two vehicles and walked back to exchange information with the other driver. A Jeep Cherokee struck the left rear end of the Corolla, pinning Morrarty between the two vehicles and causing her fatal injuries, police said.
A preliminary investigation suggests that glare from the early-morning sun could have affected visibility for southbound drivers on Route 25, police said.
