High temperatures topped 50 degrees on Saturday, the official first day of winter.  There could be a few showers overnight, followed by possible record warm temperatures Sunday when highs could reach 60 degrees.

A major pattern change across the East Coast has caused temperatures to average 5-10 degrees above normal during the last several days, and will continue through Monday.

High pressure off the southeast coast has caused the jet stream and storm track to shift north and west of Connecticut, which is on the warm and wet side of the storm.  It will not be raining all the time this weekend, but there will be a few showers on and off through early Monday.

The rain could end as light snow or flurries late Monday night into Tuesday as colder air moves in on the back side of the storm.

During the day Christmas Eve sunshine will return with a brisk NW wind. Then Christmas Day will bring even colder temperatures with plenty of sunshine.  Expect highs only in the 20s and 30s.
