BRIDGEPORT — A city man faces murder charges in the Dec. 16 slaying of Dewayne Gardner, who was shot multiple times as he sat in his car on Poplar Street, police said Saturday.
Dominick Gonzalez, 22 of Park Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged on a warrant with felony murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, police said.
Gonzalez, found in Guilford on Saturday by detectives, is being held on a $1.5 million bond and is scheduled to be in court Monday. Police said other arrests are expected as a result of the killing, the city’s 13th homicide of the year, police said.
Gardner, 21, of Bridgeport was found mortally wounded about 2 a.m. inside a Nissan Pathfinder that had rolled across Poplar, striking a parked truck, police spokesman William Kaempffer said in a release Dec. 16.
