With Monday the last day for residents to sign up for insurance effective Jan. 1 through Connecticut’s health exchange, Access Health CT, the head of the exchange expects the next few weeks to be a bit bumpy.
“Jan. 1 is going to be clunky,” Kevin Counihan, chief executive of the exchange, told reporters Friday. “There are no heroes and no villains in this implementation. … This is complex, and it’s going to be bumpy.”
He said his goal for enrollments by the end of the month is 60,000.
The exchange had about 47,000 enrolled as of Friday. If the current pace of enrollment — 1,400 a day — continues, Counihan’s estimate could become reality by the end of the month.
