WEST HAVEN — A local man was shot and killed outside a Campbell Avenue bar early Sunday, police said.
Around 2 a.m., officers responded to Lager House, 555 Campbell Ave., after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a person had been shot. Upon arrival, police found Jaymar Spain, 23, suffering from a gunshot wound along with a large group of people fighting. Additional officers from Milford, Orange and the state police were called to the scene to assist, police said.
Spain was taken to an area hospital for treatment but died from his injuries, police said.
Police believe Spain may have been involved in a fight inside the bar’s bathroom before the shooting but said many witnesses at the scene refused to cooperate or answer questions. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call West Haven police at (203) 937-3900.
