GREENWICH — A man has been arrested in a weekend collision that killed 21-year-old Meghan K. Beebe, police said.

Vyacheslav Cherepov, 26, whose last known address was in Ridgefield, was charged Monday with evading. He was in custody on $500,000 bail.

The incident happened early Saturday as the Middlebury woman was retrieving items from a parked car in a lot on William Street. Another car drove into the parking lot and struck her, stopping briefly before leaving, dragging her beneath it, police said.

Beebe was transported to Stamford Hospital, where she later died, police said.

On Monday, police found that the suspect vehicle, a red, 2006 Pontiac G6, had returned to the parking lot, police stated in a press release.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Greenwich Officer Roger Drenth at 203-622-8014.
