High pressure will build into the region with sunshine and cooler temperatures for Sunday and Monday. But temperatures will still average 10 degrees above normal through the early part of the week with highs averaging in the 40s.
A cold front will cross the region Tuesday with a few rain showers that will usher in seasonably cold temperatures for January. Some computer models are hinting at a storm that will form on the cold front and track northeast up the New England coast, delivering snow or a mix of snow and rain by Wednesday. A mid-winter chill will follow the storm by the end of the week.
