HARTFORD — Two people were pistol-whipped during a weekend home invasion, police said.
The violent robbery happened early Sunday morning at 201 Grandview Terrace in the South End, they said. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
According to police, officers received a call about a burglary at Grandview Terrace and West Preston Street about 5 a.m. A responding officer spotted two men running from the scene with a safe and chased them on foot, police said. The two men got away.
A scent-sniffing police dog was unable to track the robbers, police said.
Officers later learned that three men had forced their way into 201 Grandview Terrace and stole a locked safe from a bedroom. The victims had cuts to their heads, police said.
The department’s Major Crimes Division is investigating.
