Snow will come down at varying rates tonight. While I think snow will be heavy at times, there may be a lull in the action around or after midnight.

4”-8” of snow is possible for most of the state.  With 2”-4” of snow north of I-84 and locally higher amounts in far southern Connecticut.  There may end up being an incredible range of snowfall totals from north to south. Normally the northwest hills gets the most snow!  This time around it’s the opposite.

Snow will wind down around the morning commute Wednesday. But blowing and drifting snow will remain an issue.  Also, clean up with this storm will be a challenge with single digit temperatures to start off the day and wind chills beginning at -20 to -10.  After the snow ends, some clearing is likely.  If you’re wondering when the snow will melt, don’t hold your breath! The next 84 hours will be spent below freezing. By the time temps start to rebound Saturday, more snow showers are possible!

Extended Forecast:

Tonight: Snow at varying rates. Blowing/drifting snow. Low: 6

Tomorrow: Snow ending early. Then some clearing. Breezy. Sub zero wind chills for most of the day. High temperatures in the teens.

Thursday: Cold despite plenty of sunshine. High temperatures in the middle to upper teens.

Friday: Sunshine mixing in with a few clouds during the afternoon. High temperatures in the upper teens.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers. Not as cold. High temperatures in the lower 30s.

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny, a bit cooler. High temperatures around 20 degrees.
