Fifteen-year-old West Hartford teenager, Justina Pelletier, is no longer inside Boston Children’s Hospital according to a spokesman for the facility.

Pelletier had been inside the hospital since February 10th 2013.

“She is no longer at Boston Children’s, but at the request of DCF the Hospital is continuing to follow the patient for outpatient care on a temporary basis until new providers can be located. For any additional information on this please contact DCF,” said Rob Graham, of Boston Children’s Hospital.

Fox Connecticut News broke the story of Justina Pelletier in November 2013.

She was first admitted to Boston Children’s with a mitochondrial disease, but hospital doctors diagnosed her with something called “Somatoform disorder”, arguing a mental disorder instead of mitochondrial, a physical disorder.

Records show doctors also believed Justina regressed around her parents.

Parents, Lou and Linda Pelletier, were accused of “over-medicalizing” their daughter. A 51A form was filled out, DCF was called in and within the span of four days, the parents lost custody of Justina.

Nearly 12 months later, they still do not have custody of their daughter, but Justina has left the hospital now. Fox Connecticut News emailed the hospital spokesman, Rob Graham, on Saturday January 18th and again on Monday. Despite a quote from Graham in another publication, a confirmation of Justina’s transfer was not made until Wednesday January 22nd.

At the last custody hearing in Boston, sources say Judge Joseph Johnston, requested that Pelletier be placed in a rehabilitation facility before returning home to Connecticut.

Her next hearing is February 4th.
