NEWINGTON — A 21-year-old-man who allegedly broke into an apartment at 259 Lowery Place Thursday with a knife was arrested as he fled the building, police said.
Mario Francois, of East Hartford, was leaving as officers arrived, police said.
He was arrested and charged with risk of injury, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, threatening and second-degree breach of peace.
The residents told police Francois went to the apartment to stab a male occupant, police said.
Francois forced his way into the unit, but was pushed back, police said. A female resident was cut on her forearm with a knife during the struggle to get Francois out.
In addition to the man and woman, the apartment was also occupied by a 6-year-old child during the break-in.
