A big jump forward for a Madison teen who will represent the state and the country.

Call it the “Mac Factor”; 18-year-old Mac Bohannon, from Madison, has just earned a spot on the Olympic team as an Aerial Skier.

With support from his family, at age 13, Bohannon left home to join the U.S. Coaches at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid.

The training paid off, because just this week, he was told he would represent the country at the Sochi Games.

“I feel I  definitely have a strong chance to be competitive and bring home a medal,” Bohannon said.

“It’s a chance to represent the country and be part of team U.S.A.,  but it’s also really special to me to represent the state of Connecticut.”

Bohannon made the team placing second at a recent World Cup event in Quebec.

He leaves for Sochi on February 4and the competition begins February 17.
