NEW BRITAIN – Standing shoulder to shoulder in rows that stretched from the front of a courtroom to the lobby, 100 police officers grimly watched the arraignments of Jaheem Snype and Frankie Gonzalez on Friday.

Officers glared silently as Snype, 23, was led in for his first appearance in Connecticut court since he allegedly ran down Officer Brett Morgan with a stolen car Sunday night. Snype is accused of attempted murder; police say he drove off, dragging the helpless 28-year-old officer on the pavement for more than 100 feet and causing horrendous injuries.

A judge ordered Snype held on $1.1 million bond until he returns to court Feb. 26. Gonzalez, Snype’s half-brother, is accused of hindering the investigation. He’s is being held on $200,000 bond.
