Heading to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium? Don’t even think about driving to the game.
Parking is at a premium with fewer than 13,000 spaces available, by permit only.
Considering a taxi or black car? They’ll need permits just to drop you off and will have to spend the entire day in a secure lot.
The cheaper and easier alternative? Public transportation, such as New Jersey Transit, which is offering additional buses and trains to and from the Garden State all week long.
“We have adjusted our schedules to accommodate the customers who want to get to and from, whether it’s Super Bowl Boulevard or an NFL activity that’s Super Bowl related,” said Nancy Snyder of New Jersey Transit. “It’s enhanced service during the midday, during the morning peak, during the evening peak to accommodate the customers.
And they’re offering a Super Pass for easier, unlimited access.
“It’s one pass, $50, and basically unlimited rides for Super Bowl week and Super Bowl day on our light rail, rail and bus system,” Snyder said.

What about moving around Manhattan all weeklong? One of the best and cheapest ways to get around NYC during Super Bowl week is of course the Subway. Jump on at Times Square for most of the West Side lines. Or jump on the S over to the East Side for the 4,5,6 trains.
Overwhelmed by all of the options? New York and New Jersey transit officials deal with hundreds of thousands of passengers every day.
“At the Port Authority we’re used to mass transit,” said Michael Fedorko, superintendent of police for the Port Authority. “About 200,000 people a day use our bus terminal. About 230,000 people a day use our PATH trains. So we do this every day. We are well prepared.”
