By planes, trains and automobiles tens of thousands of people will be heading to New York and New Jersey for the first ever outdoor cold weather, two-state Super Bowl.
Luckily for us in Connecticut, to get to such a historic event is easier than most. Hop an Amtrak, a Metro North or one of our many highways and you can be in New York City and making history in two hours.
Our transportation of choice was a fleet of FoxCT trucks:
I-84 to 1-91 to the Merritt Parkway to I-95, over the bridge and then an hour of traffic later and we officially arrived in the Big Apple. A sing-along certainly helps with the city traffic, but those are optional.

The NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee is calling this the first-ever mass transit Super Bowl and encouraging all those traveling to study the hot routes and options whether traveling into the city for Super Bowl Boulevard or to the game at Met Life Stadium.
The option that the committee hopes will be most popular is New Jersey Transit. NJ Transit has created a special pass for Super Bowl Week that is meant to save time and money called the Super Pass that is on sale starting Monday. It will be valid for unlimited travel on all NJ Transit rail, bus, light rail and Access Link services throughout New Jersey, including travel to and from Newark Liberty International Airport and New York City. For Game Day, ticket holders also have the option of the Fan Express, a ticketed coach bus direct to MetLife Stadium with nine pickup locations across New York City and New Jersey. Buy tickets and pick a location at SBFanExpress.com.
The final option is driving to the game, but it has been noted early on that the host committee is promoting mass transit travel during Super Bowl week and game day. Stadium parking has been reduced and availability will be extremely limited and by permit only. Get more information and purchase a permit at superbowl.clickandpark.com.
Even though it is your usual Monday morning in New York City, banners are lining lap posts and Super Bowl Boulevard, opening Wednesday from Times Square to Herald Square is taking shape. Signs are hanging saying it all, it’s no longer a “New York State of Mind,” it’s a Super Bowl State of Mind.
