NEWARK, N.J. – In his Knowshon Moreno jersey and Broncos beanie, Mike Triola, 36,
smiled for a “selfie” in the stands of the Prudential Center overlooking the Super Bowl media day crowd below. Triola is a Broncos fan from Clark, N.J., ready to soak in every ounce of the experience of his team on his turf, normally Jets and Giants land.

“As soon as they made the Super Bowl we bought our [media day] tickets. We’re trying to get as much of the experience as possible. We thought this would be a great event, be amongst my Broncos nation.”

Triola was doing just that sitting next to Mike Larson, 31, donning an orange Von Miller jersey originally of Colorado Springs, Co., now living in Brooklyn. The two walked in as strangers but quickly bonded over their passion for the Broncos.

“I’m about the biggest Broncos fan that there is,” Larson said. “When my team that I’ve loved my whole life makes the Super Bowl in the town that I live in, I have to take part in everything I can.”

Larson, waiting for a friend he says is just as big of a Seahawks fan as he is Broncos, hopes to score a ticket to the game as prices drop along with the temperature.

Fans that may not be going to the big game but wanted to experience some of the Super Bowl week excitement sat in the seats of the Prudential Center as media outlets from around the world interviewed members of the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks on the arena floor, covered in green carpet resembling the MetLife Stadium turf the teams will play on Sunday.

Fans were able to get player autographs, take pictures of the players from their seats and listen to players’ answers

In that crowd were three Connecticut residents from Waterbury, Newtown and Seymour that made the short drive because they’re such fans of all things NFL they were going to media day no matter what teams were featured.

One Patriots fan, one Giants fan and one Seattle fan, they took the hour and a half drive to New Jersey with footballs to be signed ready to bask in the experience.

“No matter what was going on, given that it’s the New York New Jersey area, we were coming,” said Robert Girard, 31, proudly wearing his Eli Manning jersey feeling right at home in the team’s stomping grounds.

When asked what he would ask Peyton Manning if he could make it down to the green media floor? “I’d ask him how it feels that his brother Eli has more rings than he does!”
Athletes weren’t the only ones being interviewed, there were also media day appearances by Waldo, Rocky the Leprechaun and…that guy.
