Connecticut lawmakers will discuss proposed legislation today regarding sexual assault on college campuses.

It’s a topic that became headline news here in Connecticut after allegations of sexual assaults at UConn. And just last week, President Barack Obama created a task force to come up with ways to fight the problem.

The proposed legislation comes three months after UConn students filed a federal discrimination complaint accusing the school of inadequately responding to reported rapes and assaults on campus. Four present and former UConn students are suing the school alongside high profile attorney Gloria Allred.

Lawmakers held a conversation about policies and procedures regarding sexual assault at all colleges in the state in the month after the UConn allegations came to light. The bill is designed to encourage better better policies.

The bill will be presented at 10 a.m. at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
