FARMINGTON — Police have released the name of a man found dead at the Farmington Reservoir Friday.

Louis Fix, 35, died after he walked away from the scene of a minor crash, police said Monday.

Preliminary indications are that hypothermia and pre-existing medical conditions contributed to this death, they said; police are waiting for toxicology reports to determine a precise cause of death.

Fix had been involved in a minor car accident on Reservoir Road Wednesday, Jan. 29, police said. Witnesses said he did not appear to be injured, however, and damage to the car was minor.

When police arrived at the scene, Fix’s vehicle was there but he was gone. A scent-sniffing police dog was used to track him, but police did not find him until an ice fisherman reported finding a body on the reservoir’s shore about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Fix, from Bristol, graduated from E.C. Goodwin Vocational Technical High School in New Britain, according to his obituary.

Anyone with information that may help police as they investigate the case is asked to call the Farmington police at 860-675-2400. The case number of the incident is 14-1585
