Friday, February 7 is Wear Red Day.  A day to wear red to support the movement of the American Heart Association to make women aware of their risk for heart disease.  Heart disease is the leading cause of death of women.  This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Go Red for Women Movement.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Medical Center wears red on February 7th with the hospital lit up red for the entire month of February.  The Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute of CT at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is the first comprehensive heart institute in Southern New England. It has a specialized concentration of high-quality medical care and advanced technology with a national reputation for advanced cardiovascular care.

The Women’s Heart Program is part of Hoffman Heart and provides Cardiac risk assessment and cardiovascular disease risk reduction education FREE of charge to any woman over the age of 18 years.  Since started in 2006 is has served over 8000 women.
