ORANGE — A 29-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in an accident that closed the northbound lanes of the Wilbur Cross Parkway in Orange for several hours, state police said.

The crash happened about 2 a.m., when a Chevy Cavalier operated by Shamar Brooks, of Middletown, struck a guard rail on the northbound side of Route 15, according to state police.

The car then flipped into the right shoulder of the road and struck a tree. Brooks was ejected from the car and “subsequently struck by other vehicles,” state police said.

Brooks died at the scene, state police said.

Two passengers in the car, 30-year-old Alexander Wright, of Meriden, and 23-year-old Dante Treasure, of West Haven, were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with injuries, state police said.

Brooks was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to state police.

The northbound lanes of Route 15 were closed between exits 55B and 56 until after 9 a.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact state police at 203-393-4200.
