HAMDEN — A 24-year-old man was seriously injured on Monday night when he was stabbed by a friend in front of his girlfriend and two small children, police said.
Geoffrey Golding was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with stab wounds to the abdomen and arm, police said.
Police responded to Golding’s Fourth Street residence around 8:15 p.m. Their investigation revealed that Kevin Jackson, a friend of Golding, had been staying at the house that night.
At one point, Jackson began repeatedly knocking on the bedroom door, police said. When Golding opened the door, Jackson allegedly stabbed him multiple times.
Golding’s girlfriend and children locked themselves in the bedroom and called police.
Jackson fled and was arrested by New Haven police a short time later for attempting to steal a machete from a Walmart, police said.
Jackson, 25, of Philadelphia, was charged with first-degree assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, police said. He was held with bail set at $500,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 25.
