CLINTON — An Old Mill Road man, apparently enraged that a snowman in his front yard had been knocked over, forced his way into a neighbor’s home and punched two boys he believed responsible in the face, police said.

James Knudsen, 22, damaged the door while breaking in and swung over his head a pool cue he grabbed inside the house, police said.

He dropped the cue before allegedly punching the boys, ages 16 and 17, police said.

Police charged Knudsen with home invasion, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, two counts of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

At his arraignment Friday in Superior Court in Middletown, a judge found that there was not enough evidence to continue prosecuting the home invasion and burglary charges.

Knudsen posted $5,000 bail and is due back in court March 7.
