Part Of Bulkeley Bridge Shut Down During Rescue Effort

HARTFORD  — Police shut down some lanes of the Bulkeley Bridge about 1:40 p.m. as a part of an effort to rescue a person who had jumped.

The right and center eastbound lanes were closed briefly before reopening, holding up traffic in the area.

The person reportedly jumped onto the icy river about 1 p.m. and was seen moving. Hartford and East Hartford firefighters, in addition to police, were involved in the rescue operation.
