GRANBY — Police are investigating complaints about a telephone scam that seeks numbers from credit and debit cards issued by Simsbury Bank.

The complaints have been reported over the past two days in Granby and surrounding towns.

Residents receive automated phone calls saying their Simsbury Bank-issued credit or debit card has been suspended. Callers are then instructed to press “1” and to enter their card numbers and expiration date, police said.

An automated message says the card has been “re-activated,” police said.

Simsbury Bank has posted a warning on its website advising customers about the “fraudulent” calls, police said.

Police advise residents to not supply any information and end the call. If any information is entered, notify the bank immediately to prevent unauthorized use of the card.
