OXFORD — Firefighters worked for hours to battle a house fire on Thorson Road Tuesday morning.
Crews responded to the report of a fire at 87 Thorson Road around 3:30 a.m. The two residents of the home were able to escape and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
Fire crews trucked in water from a nearby pond to help fight the fire because there were no hydrants nearby. Oxford Fire Chief Scott Pelletier said the department battled freezing temperatures and several nearby towns were called in to help.
By 7 a.m. crews were wrapping up their work to put out the fire and had begun to investigate the cause. The house is a total loss, Pelletier said.
