A picture of a six-month-old baby touching a rifle at a Connecticut gun store went viral in the last week.

Mike Majewski, owner of the Woodbridge Firearms Trading Post, LLC said the picture prompted comments from as far away as the Netherlands and media requests from as far away as Australia.

Last Tuesday, Christopher Duffy took his infant daughter Genevieve to the gun store, according to Majewski. Duffy rested an unloaded bolt action rifle on the baby’s carrier and took a picture of the girl because she woke up and smile, Majewski said.

Duffy posted the photo on his Facebook page and Majewski posted it on the gun store’s business page, prompting a slew of comments from the page’s visitors.

“I’ve just being (sic) reading about the baby pic i really hope that the father would go to jail and your store would be shut down thank goodness that here in the Netherlands we have no such stores as your disgusting store,” one wrote.

“Anyone who seriously thinks that the baby could somehow be injured by being near an unloaded rifle with its action open have some serious issues,” another person said.

Majewski called the reaction, “ridiculous.”

“I thought it was a cute picture, so I put it up,” he said.

Christopher Duffy had no comment on this story.
