It’s a virtual dead-heat in the race for Connecticut’s next governor, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

The poll has both republican Tom Foley and incumbent, Dannel Malloy, with 42% of the vote from those surveyed. Gov. Malloy, a democrat, has yet to officially announce he’s running again.

There are six republicans vying for their party’s nomination. Behind Foley is Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton with 11%. Running third with 6% is another mayor, Mark Lauretti of Shelton.

The next tier of republican candidates – State Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, State Senator Toni Boucher, and West Hartford’s Joe Visconti – don’t break 3% of the vote, according to the poll.
