Tom Carruthers, founder of the New Haven International Film Festival, talks about the inaugural festival coming up at the end of the month.

“There has been a void left in the world of moving pictures and visual story telling since the loss of New Haven’s film festival in 2005. Film Fest New Haven had a great run with wonderful films and educational events. Over the years, it has been the topic of discussion at industry parties and events throughout the state. During its time, FFNH garnered great respect among other festivals and film industry professionals. It developed a huge following of passionate film lovers who looked forward to the annual event.

Since that time, a number of film and television professionals and festival producers have discussed developing a new film festival for the Elm City. Well, that time has come.

The inaugural New Haven International Film Festival is finally here! The new festival will host the screenings of more than 100 films, 16 workshops and panels and of course, two huge networking, meet and greet parties at 45 Church St. (big bank building) at the corner of Church and Crown Streets in downtown New Haven.”
