GLASTONBURY — Police are searching for a 22-year-old man suspected in an attempted armed robbery at a Main Street gas station in January.

A warrant has been issued charging Carl Irizarry with attempt to commit first-degree robbery, attempt to commit second-degree larceny and brandishing a facsimile firearm, police said.

The charges stem from an investigation into the Jan. 20 robbery of the Global Gas Station at 2997 Main St., police said. Irizarry allegedly tried to grab cash from the register and was thwarted by an attendant. He then brandished and fired an air soft handgun, police said.

Irizarry failed to appear in court on Wednesday on unrelated drug charges, police said.

Anyone with information on Irizarry is urged to call the police at 860-633-8301. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
