CLINTON — A 67-year-old man with a history of sex crimes was arrested Monday on charges that he raped a child at his home on Glenwood Road, police said.
William Motta Sr. was charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful restraint and risk of injury to a minor.
He is being held with bond set at $500,000 pending his arraignment Monday at Superior Court in Middletown.
Motta was arrested by warrant, following a fourth-month investigation by police. The alleged victim is an acquaintance of Motta, who was convicted of similar crimes in the 1970’s and 1980’s, police said.
Those convictions occurred before there was a sex offender registry and the child’s parents were aware of Motta’s history, police said.
