WINDSOR LOCKS — At a meeting tonight, the Windsor Locks police commission is set to discuss its options regarding Sgt. Robert Koistinen, who was fired in January 2012 for allegedly interfering with an investigation involving his son, also a Windsor Locks police officer, who struck a 15-year-old boy riding a bike with his car in October 2010.

Koistinen was charged with hindering prosecution but was acquitted and a state labor board says he should be rehired. His son, Michael Koistinen, was sentenced to more than five years in prison for second-degree manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Police learned the younger Koistinen had been drinking for hours before the accident.
