Record-challenging cold will greet you Friday morning. The record for Windsor Locks is 7 degrees from 1948.  In Bridgeport the number to beat is 16 set in 1993. It’s going to be close.  By afternoon, temperatures begin to moderate. It is hard to believe, but 30s are actually an improvement after Thursday’s bitter cold.  The warming trend continues Saturday.  Early in the morning a light shower is possible, followed by some clearing with temps topping 50 degrees. Sunday will be cooler and breezy.

There is a chance for snow on Monday for St. Patrick’s Day.  But this forecast is still tricky five days out. All the models are on board with a big East Coast storm, but the exact track is still up in the air.  There is a huge spread in possibilities. Will strong high pressure and arctic air help suppress this storm to the south? How deep will a trough dig into the southeast United States? Right now the operational models suggest a miss or a glancing blow. But the ensemble members are still showing a huge spread in possibilities. At this time, all we can do is keep an eye on it. Our confidence will increase greatly in the days ahead.
