Last month, the East Hartford town council gave the schools no additional money in the final 2014-2015 budget, leaving the board of education scrambling to find a way to cut $5 million. Tonight, school leaders are having a special meeting to discuss how to follow to the new budget.
One board chairman says that all programs not mandated by the state, such as art, music and sports, could be cut in an effort to save money. Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Connecticut 1B Academy.
