The party has begun in Storrs as more than 8,000 students celebrated Saturday night’s 63-53 Final Four victory over top-ranked Florida to advance to the NCAA Tournament championship game.

The decibel levels were off the charts Saturday night at Gampel Pavilion, where a packed house of students watched the game on big screens.

“I know what it’s like to a win a championship, but I don’t know what it’s like to win this championship,” said UConn senior Nicole McCue.

The Huskies will play for the national championship on Monday night against Kentucky, their first trip to the final since winning it all in 2011.

The celebration carried over to the  center of campus, just outside Gampel. Police said as of 10:30 p.m. they did make about 20 arrests. However, there didn’t appear to be any serious incidents.
