40,000 meals packaged, sealed and ready to go for the hungry in Haiti.

The entire student body, as well as faculty and staff at East Catholic High School in Manchester, had a hand in filling the food bags…with rice, lentils, dehydrated vegetables, and a tablespoon of pink Himalayan sea salt.

Each bag, added to boiling water, feeds up to six people.

East Catholic’s Day Of Service teamed up with the organization Feeding Children Everywhere to feed Haiti which is still struggling since the devastating 2010 earthquake there.

“It feels really good to know that we’re here and we can still help them, they’re so far away,” Grace Pulito, a sophomore, said.

Friday’s food packaging effort will combine with several others to eventually pack a shipping container with 250,000 meals bound for Haiti this September.
