The clock is ticking…and time is running out to file your taxes if you haven’t done so already.
It’s why tax preparers, like H&R Block offices, have extended hours.
They said 25% of taxpayers usually don’t file until April.
H&R Block claimed its services have become even more popular because filers may overlook ways to maximize their refunds or minimize what they owe.
“My first year with H&R Block, I found over $5000 for a client, it was simple credits, filing status changes, things that she was eligible for that she hadn’t known,” Rebecca Stumpf, an H&R Block office manager, said.
H&R Block pointed out that many taxpayers, who have already filed, have come in to double-check if they can get more of a refund.
The deadline to amend a tax return is the same as the deadline to file, Tuesday at midnight.
