A Florida man was indicted Wednesday on charges of witness tampering, obstruction of justice and lying to a federal grand jury that is investigating former New England Patriot star Aaron Hernandez’s alleged role in illegal gun trafficking.

Oscar Hernandez Jr. will appear in U.S. District Court in Orlando Thursday and later be brought to Massachusetts. Authorities say they believe he had a role in the transfer of weapons last year from Florida to North Attleboro, Mass. – weapons that were recovered last summer by authorities investigating Aaron Hernandez in connection with the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.

Aaron Hernandez, a Bristol native, is charged with Lloyd’s murder.

Since July, the federal grand jury in Massachusetts has been investigating interstate gun trafficking after three guns recovered in the Lloyd homicide investigation were traced back to purchases in Florida. None of those guns is the murder weapon, which has not been recovered, authorities have said.
