Police and fire crews were called to a frantic search Thursday morning for a missing three-year old in Coventry.
They searched his house and immediate surrounding areas and couldn’t find the child, so officers called in reinforcements from the state police.
Troopers used police dogs to search a larger wooded area behind the house. They believed the boy wandered off with his dog.
It took close to an hour to find the three-year-old, but when law enforcement did, they said he seemed to be okay.
Neighbors hearing the commotion came to help — worried the outcome would be different.
“He was soaking wet, he obviously found water somewhere. There’s a big pond back there. That was my concern, I knew the pond was there because I knew the house,” said Sharon Bernier, who said she heard about the search from both a phone alert and an“e-blast.”
Police don’t plan to charge the child’s parents because they said the family sent the boy to join up with his sisters on a different part of the property and instead wandered off.
