PLAINVILLE — A 37-year-old student at Tunxis Community College was arrested this week on charges that he groped a female classmate while driving around Plainville.
Ammar Majeed was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree sexual assault. He is free after posting a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear May 1 in Superior Court in Bristol.
The incident took place in February after, police say, Majeed asked the classmate to tutor him and convinced her to let him drive her home.
While driving in Plainville, Majeed groped the woman several times after she turned down his sexual advances, police said.
She exited Majeed’s car while they were parked at a shopping plaza and asked for help at a nearby restaurant. Police collected evidence that corroborated the victim’s account and interviewed Majeed, who made some incriminating statements, police said.
