ANSONIA – Police responded to Woodbridge Avenue Sunday morning after a neighbor reported a dispute involving a handgun, Ansonia police reported in a press release Sunday evening.

Steven Sentementes, 73, of 97 Woodbridge Ave., Apart. B, was arrested in the shooting of a 39-year-old man at 97R Woodbridge Ave., police said.

The victim of the shooting was not identified, but police reported that he was “struck in the buttocks area, left leg and right calf area. He appeared to have been struck at least three times,” the press release said.

When police arrived at Woodbridge Avenue they found two men inside the home, and one was “bleeding profusely from the lower leg area,” the press release said.

Sentementes “forced his way into the home and engaged in a dispute with the victim at the time of the shooting,” the press release said.

Sentementes was taken into custody on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree burglary with a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge, the press release read.

Sentementes is being held on $500,000 bond, the press release read.

The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the press release read.
