NEW LONDON — A 26-year-old man was shot in the leg Friday in the parking lot of the American Legion on Garfield Avenue, police said.
The victim was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Emergency dispatchers received reports of gunfire around 12:52 a.m.
Responding officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
A man was seen running from the scene, toward Connecticut Avenue immediately after the shooting, police said.
