Women Critically Injured In Stabbing At Old Saybrook Motel

OLD SAYBROOK — A 23-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries when she was stabbed Friday morning at a Super 8 Motel and a man was arrested in what police said was a domestic assault.

Andrew T Craig Jr., 25, of Deep River was charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault, among other charges, and is being held on a $1 million bond, police said.

The women was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she remains in critical condition, police said.

Police said they obtained a warrant to search the hotel room where the stabbing took place. The hotel is at 37 Spencer Plains Road. Seized in the search were 178 bags of heroin and more than $2,600 in cash, police said.

Police said additional arrests are expected.
